I really like Allen Holub's book called "Compiler Design in C". It is
meant for a technically savvy reader who doesn't have any theoretical
background ("Aho,Ullman", that is).

It is very nicely typeset, there are full-fledged working examples,
and tons of diagrams. Two thumbs up !

[I concur, with the warning that the book is full of errors, at least in the
early printings. -John]
