I'm looking for pointers to literature on threading. I'd like to be able
to answer questions like:
- what's the difference between ``active'' and ``passive'' threads?
- why are there so many different C++ threading packages out there?
- what does it mean for something to be ``thread-safe''?
- what happens to synchronization when you piggy-back multiple
user-level threads ontop of kernel threads?

Could someone please point me to literature on this subject? Survery
papers would be escpecially nice.

Thanks!
:)
